Dr Ron Chang qualified in Medicine from the University of Queensland in 1983.
He then went on to specialise in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, working at the Kirwan Hospital, Townsville; the Royal Womens' Hospital, Brisbane; Mater Mothers', Mater Adults, Redcliffe and Ipswich before going to the United Kingdom to complete his specialist training. He was in the UK for 18 months, working at the Leighton Hospital, Crewe and the Countess of Chester Hospital, Chester. In 1994 Dr Chang returned to the Kirwan Hospital as a Staff Specialist. He is a Director in the Queensland Fertility Group.
Dr Chang commenced private practice in January 1995 at 42 Ross River Road, Mundingburra. The practice moved to the Park Haven Medical Center in 1996 as bigger premises were needed.
In 2006, Dr Chang acquired the properties in Oxford Street and subsequently designed and built Oxford Medical Suites. The practice moved to its current location in June 2009. A great deal of emphasis was placed on the comfort of the waiting areas for patients and families, including a play area for children in the waiting room. A lot of consideration was given to the workflow and varying patient requirements. As a result, there is plenty of space for patients, families and staff to work in a productive environment.
